Joseph Squatrito III, DPT, MTC, OCS, Cert. D.N. – Owner

Dr. Joseph Squatrito III was born and raised in Metairie, La, where he attended Rummel High School. During his high school tenure, Dr. Squatrito developed into one of the top amateur beach volleyball players at Coconut Beach. In 1999, he qualified for the Junior Olympics in Cleveland, OH where he earned the Bronze medal. Discovering his love for health and fitness, Dr. Squatrito graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Movement. Dr. Squatrito later earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Saint Augustine while graduating with Honors in 2008. He continued to develop his knowledge and skills in the evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic injuries as well as extensive training in Manual Physical Therapy. In 2012, he earned his Certification of Manual Therapy from his alma mater. In 2013, he also earned recognition from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialities as a Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialist. In 2015, Joe was later certified in Dry Needling at the Spinal Manipulation Institute. Furthermore, Joe has received extensive training and knowledge in the technique of Cervical, Lumbar, and Sacroiliac Manipulation, Rocktape Technique, McKenzie Method, Mulligan Concept, Graston Technique, and Current Concepts (Evidence Based Practice) of Orthopedics. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2006 and the Orthopedic Section of the APTA since 2008.

Professionally, Dr. Squatrito has provided quality care in Gretna, La for the past 11 years where he was instrumental in helping an outpatient physical therapy provider grow to be the biggest in the area. He broke off in 2019 and established Movement Specialists Physical Therapy as a chance to provide better, quality one on one care for his patients along with following his dream of one day owning his own Physical Therapy clinic.

John “AJ” Hood, PT, DPT – Northshore, Clinic Director

Dr. John “AJ” Hood was raised in Mandeville, Louisiana where he attended Lakeshore High School. Throughout his childhood and in his summers, he was often found with his step-father where he worked as a residential and commercial carpenter. John is an alumni of University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated in 2018 with a Bachelors of Science. Following graduation, he began work as a technician with Dr. Squatrito III and Mrs. Langoni (MPT) in Gretna. Here he discovered the importance of individualized, evidence-based physical therapy and its impact on quality of life. Thus he pursued his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Louisiana State University – New Orleans and graduated in 2022. John has extensive training in spinal mobilization and high velocity, low amplitude thrust mobilizations, orthopedic disorders, movement disorders, dry needling, balance training, and post-operative rehabilitation. John has been certified in dry needling from the Spinal Manipulation Institute since 2022, and is actively pursuing other certifications. He has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2019.
